Laser cut wood, with cast resin roof, brass and plastic details. Cast resin prototypically correct clearstory roof included. One Prototype still exists, #053 at the C&TS in Chama, NM (converted to work train service). This kit builds the short versions of the D&RGW RPO/Baggage cars as operated in the consist of the San Juan Passenger Trains and on the Chili Line (until sold (3) to Mexico in 1942). In the 20's and 30's these were often operated on the RGS. Prototypically correct for all four (4) of these cars, numbers 53, 61, 62 & 63, depending on specific small detail changes. This kit builds a RPO/Baggage/express car with modifications made in the 1924 rebuilding program. The kit comes with a roof walk and end ladders. Built up model is shown for reference, you are bidding on a kit for this car, see additional photographs. This is the first time this car has been offered in HO scale as a laser cut, wood kit. Brass models have been available. There are complete instructions included, but no trucks, couplers, paint or glue. Trucks are available (PN 5002A) for $8.45 a pair.
Not a quickie kit, craftsman quality, but easy and simple to assemble by the average kit builder.
